Petite Pups is a family-run dog grooming and boarding business in Beavercreek, serving the Greene County area for over a decade. When we started, the existing site was hard to read on phones, didn't surface their services in local search, and every booking still ran through a back-and-forth phone call. After eight weeks, the site does most of the booking conversation for them.
The approach
What I decided to do, and not.
Custom site from scratch. No template. Designed for the customer journey first: find the service, see the photos, get a feel for the place, book. I reshaped the whole flow around what an existing customer or a referred prospect would actually do on the page.
Local SEO built into the foundation: service-area pages for surrounding neighborhoods, Google Business Profile rebuilt and connected to the site, schema markup, content written around the searches that actually generate phone calls.
What I didn't do
Resisted adding an online store. The owner wanted to sell branded merch. I said no: build the booking first, prove it works, layer commerce later.
The outcome
What changed.
2.4x online quote-form bookings per month (months 1–6 vs. previous baseline). Top 3 local pack ranking for "dog grooming Beavercreek" within 90 days. 1.2s mobile load time, down from 6.8s on the previous template.
The numbers
Real results, in plain English.
Pulled from the client's analytics. No averages, no "industry benchmarks." The actual numbers.

In the client's words
“
John listened more in the first call than the last person did across an entire project. The new site finally looks like the business we actually run, and our phone rings less for the right reason — people are using the form.

If I did this again
If I were doing this again, I'd start the GBP work even earlier. The local SEO gains compounded faster than the on-site gains. Lesson noted for the next service business.
